Workshop Description

Every winter snowstorms, freezing rain, aircraft icing, and low level wind shear (LLWS) all significantly impact airline operations.  However, a greater anticipation of icing and severe winter weather conditions can greatly contribute to improved airline performance and safety. 

This workshop will refresh your knowledge on the forecasting and causes of such events and provide guidance on interpretation and proactive reaction to poor weather.

By the end of the workshop participants will:

	Have a better understanding of general meteorology including weather fronts, air masses, and causes of severe winter weather.
	Be able to better utilise available information to make informed operational decisions.
	Have an improved knowledge of hazards such as wind gusts, LLWS, icing and frozen precipitation.
	Understand and use NWP computer model products, satellite, and radar imagery.

Pilots and dispatchers, supervisors, and training personnel of regional airlines, air charter, freight and cargo services, and corporate, government, MEDEVAC, SAR, and law enforcement flight operations.

Workshop Duration: 2 days.
